BUDAPEST: Hungarian filmmaker László Nemes has once again teamed up with his usual cinematographer, Mátyás Erdély, for his first French-language film, Moulin. The filming of this French production commenced on 15 September 2025 in Paris, before moving to Budapest.

BUDAPEST: The four-part historical TV miniseries A Tale of Two Cities starring Kit Harington, François Civil, and Mirren Mack, has been shooting in the streets of Budapest since October 2025 with Mid-Atlantic Films servicing.

BUDAPEST: Films Boutique has sold Ildikó Enyedi’s Silent Friend to several key territories. The film premiered in the main competition at the Venice Film Festival 2025, where it won six awards. The German/French/Hungarian coproduction is scheduled to be released in cinemas across Europe in the first half of 2026. It will be distributed in Hungary by Mozinet.

BUDAPEST: 1242 – Gateway to the West, the high budget historical film directed by Péter Soós and produced by Kornél Sipos through 1242 – Nyugat kapujában produkció, will have its world premiere on 2 October 2025 in Budapest. With a budget of 9.5m EUR / 3.7b HUF, it is one of the most expensive historical films supported by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI). It also benefited from the local 30% cash rebate scheme.

BUDAPEST: Paris-based Lucky Number has sold Hungarian director György Pálfi's new film Hen / Kota to several territories including Australia, the Baltics, and ex-Yugoslavia. Hen won the Special Jury Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival (4 – 14 September), where it had its world premiere.

BUDAPEST: While Orosz Dénes’ 2024 romantic musical comedy How Could I Live Without You?  / Hogyan tudnék élni nélküled? (produced by IKO Műsorgyártó Kft) has exceeded 1 m admissions and 5 m EUR gross (while still in Hungarian cinemas), the shooting for a sequel is currently underway. Directed by Dyga Zsombor, How could I live without you? 2 is backed by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI).

BUDAPEST: The second season of the thriller series The Day of the Jackal is confirmed for filming in Budapest, showing that the 30% local cash rebate scheme and the high skill set of service production in Hungary remain attractive for international filming. Other locations include Croatia and London.

BUDAPEST: Netflix has officially confirmed that the production of the second season of the 3 Body Problem sci-fi series is currently filming in Budapest with Pioneer Stillking providing services and benefiting from the local 30% cash rebate system. The third season will also be shot in Hungary.
