BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Lucia Kašová is currently in postproduction with World of Walls / Svet stien. This hybrid documentary is produced by guča films in coproduction with Belgium‘s Harald House, Czech company CLAW, FACTSTORY and ARTE GEIE from France, the Czech Television, and Ji.hlava / JB Films.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak Queer Film Festival 2025 will have, for the third time, an international competition for Shorts, where films will vie for the Best Queer Short Film award, while one full competitive block will be dedicated exclusively to Slovak short film premieres.

BRATISLAVA: The Czech documentary What About Petey? / Co s Péťou? directed by Martin Trabalík won the main prize in the Slovakia and Czech Republic Human Rights section at the 26th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival One World.

BRATISLAVA: The 26th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival One World is taking place 21 - 26 October 2025 in Bratislava. It is the largest and oldest documentary event in Slovakia.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech/Polish drama Father / Otec directed by Tereza Nvotová keeps its first position in the charts after three weeks in Slovak cinemas. The film was also selected as Slovakia’s candidate for the 98th Academy awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

BRATISLAVA: Miloslav Luther was awarded the main prize for directing The Dormant Account / Spiaci účet at the 36th edition of the IGRIC Awards, held in Bratislava on 21 September 2025. These are the oldest film prizes in Slovakia and one of two important national film awards in the country, alongside the Sun in a Net Awards.

PIEŠŤANY: The German drama Sound of Falling / In die Sonne schauen directed by Mascha Schilinski received the Meeting Point Europe Award in the main competition of the 20th IFF Cinematik Piešťany, which took place in the spa city of Piešťany from 10 to 15 September 2025.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak director Michal Blaško has almost completed the shooting of his sophomore feature, Cowgirl, which is backed by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, Creative Europe - MEDIA, the Czech Film Fund, and the National Film Institute – Hungary.

BRATISLAVA: Ten titles have been selected for Meeting Point Europe, the main competition of the 20th IFF Cinematik Piešťany, which will take place in the Slovak spa city of Piešt'any from 10 to 15 September 2025. Another seven films will compete in the Cinematik.doc – Slovak Documentary Competition.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Juraj Štepka has started production on his historical drama General Golian / Generál Golian, which is based on the true story of Ján Golian, one of the main organisers and commanders during the Slovak National Uprising.
