LJUBLJANA: Marko Naberšnik’s fifth feature film Whites Wash at Ninety / Belo se pere na devetdeset is the top domestic title in Slovenian cinemas in 2025 with 53,246 admissions and 378,408 EUR gross in just three weeks.

LJUBLJANA: A 5-episode TV series about the grotesque dynamic within a typical Slovenian family is now completed. Aristocracy / Plemstvo was written by Iza Strehar, directed by Žiga Virc, and backed by the Slovenian Film Centre.

LJUBLJANA: Blue Heron, a Canadian/Hungarian debut feature by Sophy Romvari, received the Kingfisher Award at the 36th edition of Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe) held 12 – 23 November 2025.

The film also won awards for best actress (Jara Sofija Ostan), best supporting actress (Mina Švajger), best supporting actor (Saša Tabaković) and best sound (Julij Zornik), together with the Slovenian FIPRESCI Award.

PORTOROŽ: Kukla’s feature film Fantasy screened in the competition of the 28th Festival of Slovenian Film Portoroz (21 - 26 October 2025), winning Vesna awards for music, production design, costume design, makeup, and special achievements. This debut feature from the Slovenian director is a coproduction between Slovenia and North Macedonia.

PORTOROŽ: Žiga Virc’s feature film Stealing Land / Zemljo krast is screening in the competition of the 28th Festival of Slovenian Film Portoroz, running 21 - 26 October 2025 in Portorož. This Slovenian/Austrian coproduction shot in just two days will have its international premiere at FilmFestival Cottbus 2025 (4 – 9 November 2025).
